ATLANTA – Delta Air Lines in Atlanta announced plans Wednesday to buy 20 CRJ900regional jetcommercial aircraft from Bombardier Inc. in Montreal. The new aircraft will replace older regional jet aircraft flown by Delta Connection operators. Bombardier will deliver the new jets to Delta from late 2018 to 2020.
The new commercial jets will feature Bombardier's new Atmosphère Cabin, including increased carry-on bag capacity, a larger lavatory, and improved aesthetic detail throughout the cabin.
Bombardier will configure these aircraft with 70 total seats including 12 in first class, 20 in Delta Comfort+, and 38 in the main cabin. They will fly on small market routes to and from Delta's domestic hubs.
The Bombardier CRJ900 has the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 flight deck avionics with six-screen electronic flight instrument system; traffic alert & collision avoidance system (TCAS) v7.1; vertical navigation (VNAV); Satellite Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) and Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS); required navigation performance (RNP) 0.3; Link 2000++; and automatic dependent surveillance-B (ADS-B) Out+.

In addition, the plane has dual attitude heading reference systems (AHRS), traffic alert and collision avoidance system (TCAS), and Collins digital weather radar.
The plane carries a flight crew of two, and a cabin crew of two plus one. Some configurations can carry as many as 90 passengers. It has two General Electric CF34-8C5 turbofan engines.
The CRJ900 is 119 feet, 4 inches long; has a wingspan of 81 feet, 6 inches; and is 24 feet, 7 inches long. It can take off and land on 5,833-foot runways.
