Honeywell signs fleet support deal with Ethiopian Airlines

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia -- Ethiopian Airlines has selected Honeywell International Inc. to provide maintenance support for its cockpit, auxiliary power units and mechanical systems.

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia -- Ethiopian Airlines has selected Honeywell International Inc. to provide maintenance support for its cockpit, auxiliary power units and mechanical systems.

The agreement covers Ethiopian Airlines' stable of about 100 Boeing B737 and B777 aircraft.

"Enhancing our commercial fleet with Honeywell's proven cockpit technologies, auxiliary power unit and mechanical systems helps u stay at the forefront in aerospace technology and innovation," said Ethiopian Airlines group CEO Tewolde GebreMariam. "Complementing this with Honeywell's repair and overhaul support means we can reduce aircraft downtime while keeping an eye on costs."

Honeywell Aerospace said the deal will see it provide spare parts, repair work and overhaul services, with contingencies designed to help Ethiopian Airlines better balance its budget through "flexible payment options and associated cost savings."

"We have worked with Ethiopian Airlines for several decades, so we know how important it is to the company to maintain a reliable, safe services, especially as it expands and upgrades its fleet," said Rudolph Louw, leader of Honeywell's African aerospace unit.
