PIARCO, Trinidad and Tobago -- In-flight entertainment technology group Bluebox Aviation Systems Ltd. has signed a deal to install wireless streaming media platforms on Caribbean Airlines' fleet of Boeing B737-800s.

The system, called the "Bluebox Wow", is comprised of lunchbox-sized units capable of storing up to 1.6 TB of digital content. The units are rechargeable and designed to be stowed in overhead bins.

The platform will stream movies, television programs, games and magazines as part of the airlines new free "Caribbean View" entertainment service.

"Bluebo Wow offers a powerful and flexible proposition that will ensure Caribbean Airlines can deliver a fresh and vibrant service that is extremely easy for passengers to access -- two things we know are important to an engaging IFE service," Bluebox CEO Kevin Clark said.

The contract covers Caribbean Airlines' fleet of a dozen Boeing B737-800s. The value of the award was not disclosed.
