SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A convergence of products from Extreme Engineering Solutions and Lynx Software Technologies provides an "ideal platform" for integrated modular avionic (IMA) development, the companies said in a joint statement.

The new product integrates Extreme Engineering Solutions' (X-ES) Xpedite7674 board with the LynxSecure Safety Bundle (LSB) from Lynx Software, providing new options for IMA.

The collaboration "represents an exciting shift in avionics system design, reducing the time, cost and design risk associated with developing, certifying and sustaining mixed criticality avionics designs on complex multi-core architectures," said Aaron Lindner, Director of Engineering at X-ES."

The XPEdite7674 is a 3U VPX-REDI single board computer based on Intel's Xeon D processor. The processor is capable of providing up to 16 Xeon-class cores in a single system-on-a-chip package, with native extended temperature support for up to 12 core-count SKUs.

The board also supports secure networking from a 1000BASE-X gigabit ethernet interface FPGA, and through two CPU 10 gigabit 10GBase-KR FPGA interfaces. X-ES said the units also support user-configurable Xilinx Kintex UntraScale FPGA for hosting custom functions, making them ideal for high security applications.

Meanwhile, Lynx's LSB provides a complete range of system development services for suppliers to build, deploy and sustain what the company calls "second generation" IMA platforms.

"With the release of a board support package for this popular hardware platform, customers can start immediate development of IMA designs based on LSB," said Lee Cresswell, Vice President of Global Sales at Lynx. "Together, Lynx LSB and X-ES XPedite7674 offer customers an open development capability in which they can run bare metal, LynxOS-178, Linux or other RTOS or OS-based system modules or applications together, residing safely and securely in a single multi-core time and space partitioned system. The XPedite7674 is a perfect environment within which to experience the open architecture and complete flexibility that LSB offers."
