LAKE FOREST, Calif. -- Gaston Sandoval has been named Global Head of Marketing and Product Management by the Panasonic Aviation Corp., where he will guide the company's transition into a digital platform and services provider.
His other responsibilities include the oversight of Panasonics' branding; market insights; product, content and performance marketing; creative development; communications and product management.
"Panasonic Avionics is world-renowned for the innovation it continually delivers in the passenger experience," Sandoval said. "As it evolves into a digital platform and services company, I look forward to the challenge of spearheading a marketing and product strategy which enable a next-generation passenger experience."
Before his appointment at Panasonic, Sandoval most recently served as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Openlink Financial, where he is credited with repositioning the company for an acquisition by the ION Group.
Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer at IBM Digital. While there, IBM Marketplace's portfolio grew to include more than 1,000 digital products with over a billion dollars in annual sales.
He has also held positions as chief marketing officer for the Watson and Software Group in Tokyo, and head of product management for IBM's datacenter in Austin, Texas.
"Gaston brings with him a wealth of experiences that makes him the ideal person to lead Panasonic Avionics' repositioning," said Mark Jennings, Chief Operating Officer at Panasonic Avionics.
Sandoval holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a B.S. in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from the National Polytechnic School in Ecuador.
