IRVINE, Calif. -- A "major North American operator" has selected Thomas Global Systems to provide and install new LCD flight displays on its Boeing 757 and 767 fleets, though the California-based group declined to specify which carrier has awarded the contract.
The replacement units will be Thomas Global's TFD-7000 series units, which are plug-and-play active matrix replacements for Rockwell Collins' EDU-776C/D and EDU 766C/D cathode ray tube units installed in many 737, 757 and 767 flight decks.
"The selection of TFD-7000 displays by a significant operator of Boeing 757s and 767s highlights the significant benefits offered by these new displays, including lower life cycle costs, greater reliability and growth capability, while also addressing critical CRT display obsolescence," said Angus Hutchinson, CEO at Thomas Global.
The units support a range of future functionality, according to the company, while also giving operators a cost-effective alternative to full cockpit retrofits.
Installation of the units will begin early next year.
