Garmin acquires electronic flight planning company

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland -- Garmin Ltd. has acquired Flight Plan LLC, a provider of digital flight planning, scheduling and trip support services.

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland -- Garmin Ltd. has acquired Flight Plan LLC, a provider of digital flight planning, scheduling and trip support services.

Flight Plan, operating as FltPlan, creates more than 6.3 million flight plans per year through its website, FltPlan.com, and mobile application, FltPlan Go. The company provides free flight planning and filing for the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, Panama, and parts of Venezuela and Columbia.

These services will be integrated into Garmin's product ecosystem, with support for FltPlan.com and FltPlan Go to also continue.

In addition to its free offerings, FltPlan provides a number of premium features, including safety management services; pre-departure clearances; an advanced passenger information system; call sign program; and runway analysis.
