HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Abaco Systems in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the SRS6000 multi-channel synchronous RF and microwave receiver system for embedded computing sensor processing applications in high-channel-density electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence (SIGINT).

Target applications include multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) radar, beamforming, direction finding, and multi-channel listening.

The SRS6000 uses field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) to help systems designers accelerate their development process and get to a solution quickly by obviating the need for in-house development that can be time-consuming and costly, company officials say.

The SRS6000 out of the box delivers the ability to synchronize as many as 32 1-gigabit-per-second A/D converter channels with a picosecond jitter. It also is scalable, with the potential to daisy-chain as many as eight sensor processing systems for a total of 256 synchronized channels in the most demanding applications.

The SRS6000 also features an auto-calibration capability to adjust its calibration routine automatically in response to changes in cabling or setup. Migration to a deployed, rugged 3U VPX system is straightforward.

"Multi-element arrays like those found in radar and other RF apertures are increasingly driving the requirement for tight synchronization between many channels - sometimes in the thousands," says Peter Thompson, Vice president of product management at Abaco Systems. "The SRS6000 provides the precision and channel density required by many of these applications."

With two Intel 2.2 GHz Xeon E5 processors and five Xilinx Ultrascale FPGAs, the SRS6000 provides server-grade processing for computationally intensive radar, electronic warfare (EW), and SIGINT applications. Additionally, PCI Express Gen3x8 and FireFly x8 fiber optic interconnects provide extreme throughput for powerful streaming.
