WASHINGTON - Jeff Bezos restated his ambition to build floating space colonies where people could in orbit, saying that the colonies would have excellent climates, with weather like "Maui on its best day, all year long." The Amazon founder made the comments at a Thursday press conference in Washington, D.C., where he unveiled the Blue Moon lander — a giant vehicle that can deliver payloads, and perhaps one day astronauts, to the surface of the moon, reports Alexandra Ma for Business Insider.

May 10, 2019-Amazon magnate and Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos showed off the "Blue Moon" lander and spoke about his vision of sending up to a trillion humans into space to exploit the veritable unending array of resources beyond Earth's atmosphere. The world's richest man envisions people living in space colonies would be as pleasant as living on a perfect version of an ideal Hawaiian day.

"This is Maui on its best day, all year long," said Bezos Thursday. "No rain. No earthquakes. People are going to want to live here."
