June 24, 2019 -A simple single-board computer was used to steal 500MB of data from NASA's JPL. NASA reported the breach in an audit recently released. The Raspberry Pi is an inexpensive SBC popular with hobbyists and to teach basic computer science skills. The wide open architecture of the coupled with what the BBC called "weak internal security controls" at the JPL allowed the attacker to bounce around the internal network to steal data from 23 files, though NASA did not disclose the nature of the stolen data.
