ATG to drive adoption of in-flight connectivity in China
BEIJING - In flight connectivity is a huge issue in China right now, with less than 10% of the growing civil aviation fleet currently offering connectivity. While other countries may be reliant on satellite IFC to meet their needs, Valour Consultancy believes Air-To-Ground (ATC) networks will drive the adoption of connectivity in China, writes Joanna Bailey for GetConnected.aero.

Date Here-Since CAAC relaxed cell phone regulations aboard Chinese aircraft last year, carriers have been scrambling to provide connectivity for its passengers. More than half of the now-connected aircraft have utilized an air-to-ground connection, eschewing more expensive satellite services. Bailey notes that because China Mobile is both state-owned and, frankly, massive with just shy of a billion customers, and the tech company has been awarded a 5G license, it is a natural fit for China to continue on its ATG path.
