The Intelligent Aerospace take:

March 16, 2020 -Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus made news this winter, it has been a difficult time for both airlines, manufacturers, and travelers beyond the immediate health concerns. In early February, Airbus, Boeing, and Safran shut down their Chinese plants. Last week, German flagship carrier Lufthansa took parked its fleet of Airbus A380 super jumbos after they had filled only to 35% capacity.

Now countries are limiting international arrivals and travelers are eschewing domestic travel as health officials urge people to practice "social distancing" to help curb the spread of the virus which has caused thousands of deaths already.

"By the end of May-2020, most airlines in the world will be bankrupt, CAPA said. "Coordinated government and industry action is needed – now – if catastrophe is to be avoided."
