16 March 2023 - On Tuesday, the TSA's Pekoske spoke at a South by Southwest panel in the Texas capital of Austin. The panel was focused on aviation security, and the TSA head spoke about the agency's tomography and biometric tech.
Biometric technology, chiefly facial recognition, will help reduce "friction," according to Pekoske, as passenger loads increase.
“We’re upgrading our camera systems all the time, upgrading our lighting systems,” Pekoske said. “(We’re) upgrading our algorithms, so that we are using the very most advanced algorithms and technology we possibly can.”
