Spirit's own app and website to blame for massive delays

6 June 2023 -Booking technology has been a boon for commercial airlines as passengers have been able to book directly with carriers and cut out humans in the loop in some of their steps. However, many are reliant on third-party tech providers, and Sprit Airlines, based in Miramar, Florida says that a network issue between third party applications caused nearly 90% of its flights to be delayed on 1 June.

“We have resolved a network issue between third party services that affected our website, mobile app and some internal applications,” Spirit told NBC News in an email. “We apologize for any delay and inconvenience, and we’re now working our way back to normal operations.”
