Sirius Aviation unveils hydrogen aircraft powertrain

PAYERNE, Switzerland - Sirius Aviation AG in Barr, Switzerland debuted its hydrogen-electric ducted fan propulsion system for the first time at Payerne Airport. This public exhibition, Sirius says, marked the inaugural ignition of the system designed to propel the company's Millennium and Sirius jets.

Alongside partners BMW Group Designworks and Sauber Group F1, Sirius Aviation fired the engine inside a presentation room, which is enabled by an engine that produces only water vapor as emissions.  
Sirius' aircraft are vertical takeoff and landing. In 2025, the Sirius Jet will take flight in two versions: Sirius Business Jet tailored to private jet needs, and Sirius Millennium Jet, crafted for commercial aviation.
The Sirius Business Jet is a zero-emission, hydrogen-powered VTOL business jet, which features a 1,150-mile flight range, a cruise speed of 323 mph, an altitude capability of 30,000 feet, noise levels of 60dBa, and accommodates three passengers.

The Sirius Millenium Jet is also a zero-emission, hydrogen-powered VTOL aircraft, but offers a 650-mile flight range with an eye on regional commercial use., a cruise speed of 323 mph, an altitude capability of 30,000 feet, a sound footprint of 60dBa, and accommodates up to five passengers.
