DALLAS - DoorDash and Flytrex have launched a drone delivery service in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, offering food delivery by autonomous aircraft to residents in parts of Little Elm and Frisco. The rollout follows a successful pilot program and makes use of Flytrex’s drone fleet, which now operates daily between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Customers can order from a selection of local and national restaurants, including Papa Johns and The Brass Tap, directly through the DoorDash app. Eligible users are given the option to select drone delivery at checkout. Orders are picked up from participating restaurants and delivered to homes by drone. The service currently covers more than 30,000 households, reaching over 100,000 residents.
Flytrex’s drones can carry payloads of up to 6.6 pounds. Future models are expected to increase that to 8.8 pounds.

“The next phase of drone delivery is all about convenience,” said Harrison Shih, Head of Product for DoorDash Labs. “Larger payloads and longer operating hours allow us to serve more customers, more efficiently.”
“Drone delivery offers suburban families exactly what they’re looking for: speed, affordability, and convenience,” added Yariv Bash, CEO and co-founder of Flytrex.
The initial pilot program completed over 1,000 deliveries and included integration of automated air traffic management tools, enabling multiple drones to operate safely in overlapping suburban areas.
Flytrex has also partnered with local officials to set up drone drop-off points in public spaces and has engaged the community through STEM-related outreach events.
The initiative is part of DoorDash Labs, the company’s robotics and automation division, which seeks to scale autonomous delivery systems that enhance customer convenience, support merchants, and explore new models for delivery services. Additional expansion within the DFW region is planned.
