2 September 2025 - The pilot project aims to enhance wayfinding, efficiency, and customer service at the terminal. Equipped with voice recognition and touch screen interfaces, the robots provide flight, weather, and amenities information and can guide travelers to specific locations within a programmed range. For destinations outside that area, they display static maps. Positioned pre-security in Centre Court and Arrivals, the robots supplement airport staff and volunteers, especially during busy times. Airport officials say the initiative blends innovation with a touch of fun, while Maritime Robotics emphasizes the importance of advancing travel technology developed by and for the local community.
"We are pleased to partner with a local start-up to test robotic technology at our airport," said Tiffany Chase, Director of Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience at HIAA. "This collaboration marks an exciting step toward enhancing wayfinding and elevating the passenger experience. By embracing technology solutions like these, we are prioritizing airport efficiency and innovation, with a touch of fun in the terminal. Think WALL·E with a map - and they’re pretty adorable, too."
