Officials of VMIC in Huntsville, Ala., are introducing a one-slot, dual-channel MIL-STD-1553 bus controller interface for VMEbus computers. Each channel of the VMIVME-6001 operates as a separate and independent dual-redundant interface. The VMIVME-6001 offers bus controller, multiple remote terminal/monitor and diagnostic modes of operation, error injection and detection capability, multiple dynamically accessible data buffers, continuous monitoring of all transmitted/received data, and flexible processing. The device is compatible with the protocol of 1553B, 1553A, and F16 and F18 derivatives of these specifications. The VMIVME-6001 is based on a microprogram-driven CMOS application-specific integrated chipset.
