Designers at General Dynamics C4 Systems, Scottsdale, Ariz., needed a communications module for ruggedized computers they were building for the Department of Defense.
They found a solution with Performance Technologies, Rochester, N.Y. General Dynamics will use Performance Technologies’ X.25 Protocol Software and integrated PCI334A WAN Communications Adapter. The product provides four high performance synchronous/serial channels for WAN connectivity.
General Dynamics won the Common Hardware/Software III (CHS-3) contract in June 2003, a competitively awarded follow-on program to CHS-2, which has a maximum potential value of $2 billion.
“We offer purchasing efficiencies and economies of scale for high performance server components to meet our customers’ communications requirements,” says Theresa Gassner, business development manager at General Dynamics C4 Systems. “General Dynamics delivers ruggedized, commercial off-the-shelf IT building blocks that are certified to meet the military environmental specifications of the Department of Defense and many other Federal Government agencies.”
