ROME, N.Y., 11 March 2005. The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate has awarded two contracts, valued at nearly $10.8 million, to Intelligent Software Solutions of Colorado Springs, Colo.
The first contract is a $5.8 million effort, under which the firm will design, develop, test and demonstrate software enhancements to the directorate's Web-enable Timeline Analysis System (WebTAS) technology. The upgrades will include incorporating theater battle operations net-centric environment, integrated collection enhancement tool, and exploitation of data link capabilities into the WebTAS software.
"This work will result in an upgrade to the Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS)," said Michael A. Welch, program manager in the directorate's Information and Intelligence Exploitation Division. "We expect that an initial prototype of the software will be transitioned to the Air Operations Center Weapons System Program Office at Hanscom Air Force Base in October."
The award was made under a $35 million contract to Intelligent Software Solutions last August to provide support for the WebTAS, which provides a capability to rapidly connect to diverse data sources and combine the data in multiple analytical/visualization tools, with the goal of providing alerts/warnings of developing situations. Currently, WebTAS supports operational users in the tracking of events, individuals, and/or organizations in support of counter insurgency, counter drug, counter terrorism and law enforcement.
The second contract, a three-year effort valued at $4.9 million, will support the "Predictive Awareness & Network-Centric Analysis for Collaborative Intelligence Assessment (PANACIA) Advanced Technology Demonstration (ATD)." As an advanced decision support system, PANACIA will provide integration of mature fusion and reasoning engines to support the warfighter in both an Air Operations Center (AOC) Weapons System and Air Force Distributed Common Ground System (AF-DCGS). Capability enhancements will include the ability to provide multi-level reasoning, situation refinement, and collaboration.
"PANACIA will provide a single net-centric system for integrated and fused information, across intelligence domains and fidelity of products from tracks, to units, to adversary behavior patterns," said program manager Brian C. Romano. "It will provide real-time, dynamic, tactical order of battle to the warfighter."
