CRANE, Ind., 21 Sept. 2005. U.S. Navy officials need real-time imagery equipment for use aboard surface warships. They found their solution from FLIR Systems Inc. in Portland, Ore.
FLIR is providing a forward-looking infrared system that provides real-time imagery to provide surface vessels with threat acquisition, identification, tracking, and engagement capability.
The company is doing the work under terms of a $34.1 million contract awarded Sept. 20 from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, Crane, Ind. The contract number is N00164-05-D-8534.
