MELBOURNE, Fla., 5 Oct. 2005. FYI Corp. announced today that it has completed its preliminary design phase for the development of an advanced battlefield management display system, in partnership with Northrop Grumman Corp.

The system is being designed to dramatically increase U.S. military commanders' situational awareness on the battlefield by providing a much clearer representation of activities than is currently available.

FYI's data visualization software is being integrated into a number of Northrop Grumman-designed systems to provide comprehensive, detailed target attributes directly within displays used by battlefield commanders -- removing the requirement of distracting text displays and dialogs that create barriers to situational awareness. This allows the warfighter to process more information faster, leading to a significantly shorter sensor-to-shooter decision cycle.

FYI Visual, FYI Corp.'s flagship data visualization product, will soon be deployed into flight simulators in the "proof-of-concept" testing phase of the advanced battlefield management display system. The advanced displays have been designed for use in many battlefield management systems such as the U.S. Air Force's E-10A battle management command and control aircraft.

Using new symbology, FYI Visual structures complex data in a format that enables decision-makers to quickly understand how each area of their organization meets expectations. This patented technology displays thousands of data points in a series of color-coded symbols on a single screen, enabling users to assess the state of their organization -- sales, productivity, fleet management, patient health, etc. -- in a matter of seconds. By "reading" the color and symbol patterns, users can rapidly pinpoint anomalies in a large organization in a fraction of the time it takes to review traditional data displays.

"FYI's displays can significantly enhance the U.S. war fighter's ability to see and understand battlefield activities and make quicker, better-informed decisions than ever before," said John Casko, vice president of Engineering Logistics & Technology, Integrated Systems for Northrop Grumman. "This type of technology fits right in with the U.S military's move to NetCentric warfare that is designed to integrate multiple sources of information from multiple systems."

"Our data visualization software is helping to address a tremendous need for faster and more accurate information processing by the military," said Kerry Gilger, president and CEO of FYI. "FYI Visual helps reduce the unprecedented demands placed on the warfighter to make critical decisions under extreme pressure in a tremendously volatile environment."

Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems, the U.S. Air Force's prime contractor for the E-8C Joint STARS and E-10A airborne ground surveillance and battle management programs, is a premier aerospace and defense systems integration organization.

Headquartered in El Segundo, Calif., it designs, develops, produces and supports network-enabled integrated systems and subsystems optimized for use in networks. For its government and civil customers worldwide, Integrated Systems delivers best-value solutions, products and services that support military and homeland defense missions in the areas of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; space access; battle management command and control; and integrated strike warfare.

Based in Melbourne, Fla., FYI Corp. focuses on advanced data visualization software. FYI Visual, our flagship product, converts large amounts of information into intuitive visual representations so users can make better decisions faster. For more information, see www.fyivisual.com.
