ATLANTA, Ga., 4 May 2005. VistaScape Security Systems announced today that the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has selected VistaScape's SiteIQ surveillance platform to protect Logan International Airport and Massport maritime properties located in and around Boston Harbor.
The announcement follows a successful pilot project conducted at Logan Airport in May 2003.
Massport selected ADT Security Services' Federal Systems Division, a unit of Tyco Fire & Security based in Boca Raton, Fla., as the prime contractor and systems integrator, responsible for installing the SiteIQ software, surveillance cameras, and other security infrastructure. ADT's Federal Systems Division, headquartered in Alexandria, Va., is one of the largest government security integrators in the nation, providing support to vital military and homeland security missions. Ross & Baruzzini, Inc., based in St. Louis, is providing the architecture design and engineering services for the project.
SiteIQ is a software platform that provides a single, graphical display for monitoring activity across an entire area, based on input from surveillance cameras and other sensors. Rather than relying on guards to monitor multiple video displays, SiteIQ uses geoenhanced video analytics to plot detected activity in real time on a 3-D world model. SiteIQ detects, tracks, and classifies objects onscreen and, if a security rule is violated,
automatically alerts authoroties with audible alarms and live video of the event.
"VistaScape's software extends our eyes far beyond the reach of conventional surveillance systems," said Dennis Treece, director of corporate security for Massport. "This means a more productive and effective security staff for Massport, which translates into a higher level of safety and service for our passengers, commercial customers, and the general public."
Among the camera technologies furnished by ADT will be high-end infrared cameras from Hurley & Associates, capable of high-resolution video imagery at night and in inclement weather. In addition to the fixed camera infrastructure, Massport will be provided a deployable detection device that enables the rapid shift of the surveillance profile and the ability to extend coverage to new areas of concern.
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) operates Logan International Airport, the Port of Boston, Tobin Memorial Bridge, Hanscom Field and Worcester Regional Airport. Massport is a financially self-sustaining public authority whose premier transportation facilities employ more than 20,000 people, generate more than $8 billion every year and enhance and enable economic growth and vitality in New England.
