ROCKLEIGH, N.J., 20 Nov. 2011. Leaders of U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., needed audio-visual control technology to enable NORTHCOM personnel to conduct briefings and share critical information seamlessly with U.S. military authorities all over the world. They found their solution from Crestron Electronics Inc. in Rockleigh, N.J.NORTHCOM selected Crestron AV control solutions for the company's ability to meet mission needs via a recent AV system upgrade, NORTHCOM officials say.The NORTHCOM facility features meeting rooms, auditorium, and conference rooms for military briefings, training, and collaboration. A Crestron PRO2 control processor is the backbone of the integrated system, and every room is equipped with a Crestron 12 or 15-inch touch screen display.
Each touch screen has a similar display interface. The intuitive system enables authorized personnel to select, display, and route information with minimal training or experience, Crestron officials say.
"NORTHCOM requested an integrated solution that provided a consistent look and feel for military personnel, while also upholding the security measures required of the facility," says Landon Lovett, director of federal government markets at Crestron. "We understand the specialized needs of government and military agencies and the importance of network security and reliable automation of audio/video technology throughout a facility."
NORTHCOM provides command and control of U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) homeland defense, covering air, land, and sea approaches to the continental U.S., Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and the surrounding water to 500 nautical miles. Although NORTHCOM plans, organizes, and carries out homeland defense and civil support missions, the command has few permanently assigned forces, so the command is assigned forces whenever necessary.
