MCLEAN, Va., 28 Aug. 2012. The U.S. Army Geospatial Center (AGC) has selected Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) [NYSE: SAI], scientific, engineering, and technology applications company, to provide geospatial research, intelligence and support related to Geospatial Enterprise Services (GES). AGC awarded SAIC a prime contract with a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total contract value of $200 million if all options are exercised.
The AGC's mission is to coordinate, integrate, and synchronize geospatial information requirements and standards across the Army; to develop and field geospatial enterprise-enabled systems and capabilities to the Army and Department of Defense; and to provide direct geospatial support and products to warfighters. The AGC was organized as a Major Subordinate Command (Center) under the Army Corps of Engineers in October 2009 to support the Army's LandWarNet and battle command concepts, capabilities, and systems - facilitating dissemination of relevant geospatial information to every echelon throughout the dynamic battlefield environment.
SAIC will provide an end-to-end architecture capable of collecting, integrating, synchronizing, managing, analyzing, displaying, and disseminating geospatial information and C4ISR systems for the AGC.
