Air Force to brief industry in November on command-and-control contracting opportunities

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., 21 Aug. 2012. U.S. Air Force researchers will brief industry on how to support Air Force command-and-control (C2) integration strategies from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 5 Nov. 2012 at the Bayview Commonwealth Center on Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Newport News, Va.
The unclassified briefings are to give industry an overview of Air Force command and control needs,operational requirements, goals, priorities, and contracting opportunities. The key note speakers are Gen. Gilmary Michael Hostage III, commanding general of Air Force Air Combat Command (ACC), and Maj. Gen. Steven L. Kwast, ACC director of requirements.
Sponsoring the briefings are the ACC Air Force Command and Control Integration Center (AFC2IC) and the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate in Rome, N.Y.
Air Force experts will brief industry on several areas of command-and-control needs, including C2 needs for contested anti-access/area denial (A2/AD), tactical C2 surveillance and battle management, interoperable C2, communications, and training and exercises.
A2/AD discussions will involve air sea battle, joint operational access, and C2 of integrated air and missile defense (IAMD). C2 surveillance discussions will involve information management, operational assessment, unified planning, and mission assurance.
Interoperable C2 discussions will involve joint aerial layer network, tactical data links, tactical communications, and beyond-line-of-sight communications. Training and exercise discussions will involve C2 modeling and simulation, as well as live virtual constructive (LVC) technology.
Briefing topics also will include C2 strategic planning and strategies, C2 operational architecture views, panel discussions, and partnering through innovation and experimentation.

The cost is $30 per participant, which includes coffee, snacks, and lunch. Payment is required in advance by check, and dress for the event is business casual or uniform of the day.
