SAN ANTONIO, 30 March 2006. MDI Security Systems has announced the availability of its true three-dimensional video motion-detection surveillance system in the world, branded SenseEye VMD.
To deliver 3D video motion detection, SenseEye uses two or more overlapping cameras to detect movement within a specified zone. By detecting movement within a volume, not along a plane, it reduces false alarms, increases detection probability, and provides the protection of multiple or individual assets and more flexibility in camera positioning and location. The system is only sensitive to the exact area, line, or "point in space" that is defined by the user.
According to the company, a limitation of 2D video motion detection solutions is the inability to differentiate between "innocent" motion and motion that has led to the removal of a defined object in a specific area or a breach in a perimeter's security.
The SenseEye system is designed for use in government, Department of Defense, and Homeland Security, for the protection of perimeters, borders and ports, high-value assets, hazardous areas, and airport checkpoints.
