NATO forces to receive ballistic missile defense capabilities from ThalesRaytheonSystems

MASSY, France, 5 July 2010. Systems integrators at ThalesRaytheonSystems (TRS) in Massey, France, will provide NATO commanders with real-time interim ballistic missile defense capabilities by the end of 2010 under terms of a contract announced today from NATO’s Active Layered Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (ALTBMD) Program Office. ThalesRaytheonSystems will deliver the Air Command and Control System (ACCS) Theater Missile Defense (TMD) component of NATO’s ALTBMD Interim Capability Step 2 Real-Time (InCa 2 RT).

Systems integrators at ThalesRaytheonSystems (TRS) in Massey, France, will provide NATO commanders with real-time interim ballistic missile defense capabilities by the end of 2010 under terms of a contract announced today from NATO’s Active Layered Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (ALTBMD) Program Office.

ThalesRaytheonSystems will deliver the Air Command and Control System (ACCS) Theater Missile Defense (TMD) component of NATO’s ALTBMD Interim Capability Step 2 Real-Time (InCa 2 RT).

This component of the ALTBMD initiative is to enhance the alliance’s command and control capabilities by integrating contributions of member nations in shared space-based early warning, early warning frigates, and weapons systems.

Initial tests will be during a NATO exercise in July, and the system is expected to be operational by the end of the year.

ThalesRaytheonSystems is equally owned by Raytheon and Thales, and specializes in air defense systems, command and control systems, 3D air defense radars, battlefield and counter-battery radar systems.
