Rivada Space Networks expands Asia-Pacific partnerships for Outernet satellite network
SINGAPORE - Rivada Space Networks, a global connectivity provider launching a low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network in Munich, Germany, announced new partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region as it continues to build momentum for its "Outernet," a secure space-based data network aimed at governments and enterprises. The company said it has secured more than $16 billion in global business for the network.
At the AsiaTechX conference, Rivada is highlighting the Outernet’s core capabilities, including ultra-secure gigabit-speed connectivity and lower latencies than fiber. The network uses inter-satellite optical links and onboard routing technology to maintain data transmission entirely in space, creating a secure and physically separated infrastructure.
New partners include:
- iO3 (Singapore): Will use the Outernet to enhance real-time, secure digital services in the maritime sector, especially for defense and government operations in high-risk areas.
- Acutec Systems (Australia): Specializes in communications for maritime and offshore sectors. It sees the Outernet as a “fiber-equivalent” solution at sea, offering secure, enterprise-grade bandwidth.
- Tricom (India): Aims to improve maritime connectivity through a resilient satellite-based network to support safer and more efficient operations.
- Rikei Corporation (Japan): Plans to utilize the Outernet to expand secure, low-latency telco and enterprise networks.
- Transcontinental Enterprise Co., Ltd. (Taiwan): Will deliver secure government communications, even in remote locations.
- One Commerce (Philippines): Will help improve government and enterprise connectivity, supporting national digital transformation and public access initiatives.
Rivada emphasized the growing need for secure, high-performance infrastructure in Asia-Pacific as regional digital demands rise. "More than ever, the Asia-Pacific region needs resilient infrastructure that is fast, secure and reliable," the company stated.
Rivada says the Outernet supports applications such as 5G backhaul, banking communications, oil and gas exploration, and maritime operations, while strengthening data sovereignty and supporting national AI and digital strategies.
