Iridium makes PNT ASIC commercially available

The Iridium PNT ASIC is intended to provide a source of trusted PNT data for applications that depend on GNSS but require resilience against signal interference.

MCLEAN, Va. - Iridium Communications Inc. announced the commercial availability of the Iridium PNT ASIC, an 8-by-8-millimeter application-specific integrated circuit designed to provide resilient positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) capabilities for devices operating in environments affected by GNSS jamming and spoofing.

The chip provides cryptographically secure timing and location data from the Iridium satellite network through one-way signal bursts. Iridium says the signals can operate in environments where traditional GNSS signals may be unavailable, including inside structures and in contested environments.

The ASIC weighs less than 0.2 grams and is designed for integration into compact systems. Iridium said more than 150 organizations have expressed interest in the technology since its unveiling in October 2025, including organizations working in maritime systems, uncrewed and autonomous systems, aviation, telecommunications, and critical infrastructure.

The Iridium PNT ASIC is intended to provide a source of trusted PNT data for applications that depend on GNSS but require resilience against signal interference. Iridium is also positioning the technology for timing applications in telecommunications, financial markets, power grids, and government systems that depend on precise time synchronization.

Iridium partners are integrating the ASIC into new PNT products. Solace Communications is incorporating Iridium PNT into its Vector family of assured PNT products, which combines Iridium PNT with multi-band GNSS and inertial sensing. Skyband Systems also plans to integrate the ASIC into its M100 line-replaceable unit for business and commercial aviation, combining Iridium PNT with onboard inertial sensing to detect GNSS jamming and spoofing and provide aircraft location information.

Iridium is working with developers, original equipment manufacturers, systems integrators, and technology providers to incorporate the ASIC into PNT systems and other applications.
