22 Oct. 2020 -- The Navy said Philadelphia-based defense contractor McKean Defense Group won a one-year contract for engineering services for the Navy’s Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES).

These services will involve networking, communications, computers, certification, information assurance. The contract has a one-year base period with four option years. Northrop Grumman Corp. is the overall CANES designer.

CANES serves as the bridge to the future of Navy afloat networking, consolidating existing legacy and stand-alone networks, providing infrastructure for Tactical applications, systems, and services, Navy officials say. CANES will consolidate and modernize shipboard network systems to improve operational effectiveness and affordability across the fleet.
