SEAKR to build rad-hard solid state recorders

Designers from SEAKR Engineering Inc. of Englewood, Colo., are building on their previously completed research to develop a highly fault-tolerant and ultra-radiation-hardened solid state recorder for U.S. Air Force space applications. The project is part of the second phase of a Small Business Innovative Research grant, and calls for SEAKR engineers to deliver a flight-quality digital signal processor based on the a Texas Instruments Quad TMS 320C40 DSP, along with a custom flight interface boar

The project is part of the second phase of a Small Business Innovative Research grant, and calls for SEAKR engineers to deliver a flight-quality digital signal processor based on the a Texas Instruments Quad TMS 320C40 DSP, along with a custom flight interface board. The VME design will be based on the commercially available PC/M DSP-444 signal processor, and will emphasize resistance to total-dose and single-event upset radiation. SEAKR engineers are concentrating on using radiation-tolerant, rather than full-rad-hard, components. - J.K.
