HP rolls out new rugged VME single-board computers

Engineers at Hewett-Packard Co. in Palo Alto, Calif., designed five new products for their VME industrial/military computer line. The 744/165L single-board and 748/165L industrial computers improve performance over previous generations and add as many as four PCI mezzanine cards to each VME board. These components are designed for embedded systems in aerospace and defense, as well as in manufacturing, telecommunications, and medical applications. The 744/165L is for air traffic control, military command and control, telecommunications, and medical imaging. It features performance of 7.9 SPECint95, and 7.64 SPECfp95.
