Experts from Spectron Microsystems of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mercury Computer Systems of Chelmsford, Mass., are teaming on a project to link digital signal processing (DSP) software development tools and multiprocessor DSP hardware systems that run the SPOX real-time operating system. The two companies are working under supervision of the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to develop Application Configuration Language (ACL) middleware that will interface between the development tools and the hardware. ACL translates a tool`s output to directives that are compatible with the target hardware`s real-time operating system. - J.K.
