Transcat offers Hanwell wireless data-acquisition systems
Officials of Transcat Inc. in Rochester, N.Y., are offering Hanwell Instruments Ltd. wireless data acquisition systems, which include components necessary to sense, collect, transmit, record, store, and graph obtained data. Standard software is included. The systems offered include data logging of all process signals such as temperature, 4-to 20-milliamp current loops, humidity, weather, and digital pulses. The Hanwell units have communicating distances of as far as five miles line of sight — distances farther than five miles need a repeater. Thales to support 2eSST transfers on VME under LynxOS
Designers at Thales Computers in Raleigh, N.C., are providing integrated PowerPC and Pentium VME computing systems that support 2eSST transfers running under the LynxOS real-time operating system. 2eSST, short for 2-edge synchronous source transfer, is a bus protocol that provides VME systems with theoretical bandwidth as fast as 320 megabytes per second, and is part of the Motorola "VME Renaissance" initiative. Thales is including 2eSST support into two software packages — the PowerLine LynxOS Board Support Package for single-board computers, and the PowerLine LynxOS Multi-Node Package for large PowerPC systems using computer boards and computing nodes.
