Bittium Corp. in Oulu, Finland, is introducing the Bittium Secure Suite software for the Bittium Tough Mobile smart phone with a scalable set of new software services for cyber security, remote management, remote attestation, and securing the network connections of the device.
The Bittium Tough Mobile smart phone and Bittium Secure Suite for secure communications are for processing and transferring sensitive and classified material and securing critical communications.
The Bittium Secure Suite targets domestic and international mobile security and public safety applications, as well as enterprise applications that require the highest level of information security.
The software satisfies key security requirements and criteria, and also can be evaluated and audited formally. The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority has approved the use of Bittium Tough Mobile together with Bittium Secure Suite as a for processing and transferring classified material up to national classification level IV (ST IV national restricted).
Bittium Secure Suite allows centralized management of Bittium Tough Mobile devices and remote security policy enforcement. For example, the phone's camera can be disabled using the management system, and lost devices can be located and remotely wiped.
The remote attestation function provides unforgeable, cryptographic proof of the device identity and that the device hardware and software has not been tampered with. The application white list feature allows specifying an exclusive list of vetted and approved applications that can be installed on Bittium Tough Mobile devices, and enforces this without any options to bypass the policy.
Bittium Secure Suite also includes an intelligent, always-on VPN solution that enables all IP based applications and networks to be utilized securely. The Bittium SafeMove VPN and integrated firewall secure all network connections and make sure that data traffic is strongly encrypted and authenticated.
The also includes optional features such as a secure Enterprise app library, a service for collecting audit logs from end devices, and a managed over the air software update service (OTA). It also can be complemented with third party solutions, such as VPN protected group calls or various voice encryption services.
Bittium Secure Suite can be installed in customer premises and integrated with existing IT environments. This enables secure system management and maintenance without links to external service providers and cloud services. Bittium Secure Suite can be tailored according to customer requirements, and amended later with new features and services.
