LAS VEGAS, 6 March 2013. Curtiss-Wright Controls Defense Solutions in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the 21.5-inch Skyquest AVDU5500 rugged display for helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. The company introduced the avionics display this week at the Heli-Expo trade show in Las Vegas.
The AVDU5500 video display with touchscreen is designed for the most demanding helicopter and fixed wing applications. With digital and analog inputs, the AVDU5500 connects to electro-optical turrets directly or via the Curtiss-Wright Skyquest VMS video distribution units.
The AVDU5500 delivers HD 1080-pixel resolution for defense and law-enforcement surveillance, search, and rescue applications. Its quad-screen option enables operators to view as many as four independent live video images simultaneously. The optical bonding techniques ensures visibility in bright sunshine.
The display uses a dual LED backlight for use with night vision goggles. Users can upgrade and update configuration data in their display by connecting to a standard computer.
The AVDU5500's 5-wire resistive touchscreen can be customized to operate with digital moving maps. I/O options include USB, Ethernet, and RS422/232.
The display's eight bezel keys on the bottom control power on/off, brightness, and channel selection. Soft keys display around the perimeter of the display control video recorder, picture-in-picture, and Quad View.
