Intel Atom-based embedded controller for industrial automation introduced by AAEON

TAIPEI, Taiwan, 2 Aug. 2013. AAEON in Taipei, Taiwan, is introducing the rugged AEC-6401 compact embedded controller with energy-efficient Intel Atom N2600 1.6 GHz processor and Intel NM10 chipset for applications like factory automation, environment monitoring, digital signage, and government and public safety in-vehicle computing.

The controller for embedded computing offers as much as 2 gigabytes of DDR3 1066 SDRAM, a 12-volt DC power input, four USB 2.0, and one Gigabit Ethernet, one RS-232 COM, and two RS-232/422/485 serial connectivity through RJ-45 connectors. Wireless network connectivity is optional.

The anti-vibration brushed aluminum enclosure is attractive and light-weight, measures 125 by 77-millimeters, operates in temperatures from -20 to 50 degrees Celsius, and offers passive heat dissipation and airflow.

The AEC-6401 has data gathering has via its mini-SATA connection for high speed, solid-state data storage functionality, enabling analysis data or immersive high-definition multimedia information to be output through its mini HDMI link.

Installation is easy with the din-rail and standard VESA mounting. The AEC-6401 supports Windows XP, Windows 7, WES7E, and Linux Fedora software.
