ALPHARETTA, Ga., 21 Sept. 2013. Engineers at The Boeing Company needed a Remote Interface Unit (RIU) for the F-15C/D Advanced Display Core Processor (ADCP) II aircraft. They found their solution at L-3 Display Systems (L-3 DS).

The RIU is a redundant, programmable input/output processing system that collects and manages heads-up display (HUD), hands-on throttle and stick (HOTAS), and other F-15C/D analog and digital signals for distribution using the aircraft’s digital bus interfaces.

L-3 DS won a contract from Boeing to design, develop, test, and deliver a state-of-the-art RIU, which will enable the digital transformation of aircraft systems for the combat-proven F-15C/D Eagle. The RIU also contains a redundant HUD low-voltage power supply (LVPS) function that supports the legacy HUD by incorporating advanced, regulated low-voltage outputs.

“L-3 Display Systems has a successful, proven heritage in data acquisition and conversion, which is the foundation for our work on the F-15C/D RIU. We are a leader in providing high-performance avionics systems for demanding environments, and we look forward to equipping the F-15 with our most advanced product technology,” says Bruce Coffey, president of L-3 Display Systems.

L-3 Display Systems, a division of L-3 Aviation Products (L-3 AP), is a provider of commercial and military avionics.
