AUSTIN, Texas, 12 Sept. 2013. 4DSP LLC in Austin, Texas, is introducing two FPGA Mezzanine Cards (FMC-VITA 57.1) for multi-channel data acquisition and high-end speed signal processing and recording. FPGA stands for field-programmable gate array.

The FMC168 embedded computing board is a digitizer FMC with eight A/D converter channels with 16-bit resolution and 250 megasamples per second sampling rate per channel. The FMC408, is a clock distribution FPGA Mezzanine Card with eight synchronized clock outputs and eight synchronized pulse per second signals.

The FMC408 combined with several FMC168 offers 64 synchronous A/D channels that can be enclosed in one ruggedized chassis or 3U server. FMCs can be mounted on PCI-Express, VPX, CompactPCI, or AMC FPGA carrier cards.

With advances in FPGA device densities and signal processing capabilities on Xilinx Virtex-7 and Kintex-7 FPGAs, it has become possible to process gigabytes of data real time and on-the-fly, 4DSP officials say.

When coupled with a high speed CPU and SSD array for storage, FMC s offer the flexibility, DSP power, scalability, and ruggedization levels of high-end systems in the telecommunications, aerospace and defense industries.
