Curtiss-Wright introduces rugged high-speed receiver card for radar, SDR and SIGINT applications

LEESBURG, Va., 4 April 2008. Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in Leesburg, Va., is introducing the XMC-E2201 rugged dual channel 16-bit digital receiver XMC/PMC mezzanine card for radar, software defined radio (SDR), and signals intelligence (SIGINT) applications.

LEESBURG, Va., 4 April 2008.Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing in Leesburg, Va., is introducing the XMC-E2201 rugged dual channel 16-bit digital receiver XMC/PMC mezzanine card for radar, software defined radio (SDR), and signals intelligence (SIGINT) applications.

The XMC-E2201 supports analog sampling rates of 160 megasamples per second for demanding signals-acquisition applications.

Based on twin Xilinx Virtex-5 field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), the XMC-E2201 combines input bandwidth in excess of 700 MHz, signal-to-noise ratio rated at more than 77 decibels, and high spectral purity. Its twin-FPGA architecture dedicates one Virtex-5 FPGA for high-speed acquisition of the dual analog channel inputs. This FPGA also features 16 megabytes of ZBT RAM memory and may be optionally configured with dual GC4016 Graychip co-processors to enhance its built-in DSP capabilities.

The card's second command-and-control FPGA provides 64-bit/133 MHz PCI-X. An eight-lane PCI Express (PCIe) interconnect provides direct high-speed off-board data throughput rates up to 2.5 gigabytes per second.
