BLUE BELL, Pa., 24 June 2014. MEN Micro Inc. in Blue Bell, Pa., is introducing the F403 3U CompactPCI board with 16 bi-directional digital I/O channels for rugged applications in harsh environments like modern railways.

The I/O board is suited for control functions, such as door-locking control and interior lighting. The F403 supports 16 bidirectional digital I/O channels, organized into four optically isolated groups for data transmission with four channels in each group.

In addition to accommodating configuration as either an input or output, each channel has an individual edge-triggered interrupt. A voltage range of 14.4 volts DC to 154 volts DC with a current output of 1 amp at 24 volts complies with EN 50155.

The board is ready for immediate use in train applications as well as able to handle digital I/O signals with different voltage levels and ground references. The four front connectors use spring cage terminal blocks facilitating low wiring outlay and enabling fast installation, while ensuring a secure connection.

Operating temperature is -40 to 85- degrees Celsius for qualified components. The board withstands a maximum of 95 percent relative humidity during operation and shock to 50 m/s2. Functional vibration is 1 m/s2 and lifetime vibration is 7.9 m/s2, both from 5 Hz to 150 Hz.

The F403 is equipped with safety measures necessary for mobile environments, including voltage and temperature supervision as well as readback of outputs to provide a reliable, solution for controlling means in the rail market.
