MONTREAL, 22 July 2009. Mechtronix Systems signed a five-year contract with L-3 MAPPS to design two BUS Access Modules and VME Cards needed to upgrade the Battle Damage Control Systems (BDCS) for the Canadian Navy's fleet of 12 Halifax Class frigates.

The Mechtronix-engineered technology will provide L-3 MAPPS, a supplier of ship control systems to the Canadian Navy, with solutions to support the officers and decision-makers in carrying out their duties, reveals a representative. It will aid damage control teams to better manage emergency situations ranging from fire, flood, and smoke to radiation and chemical hazard protection.

"We are pleased to announce the selection of Mechtronix as a key integrator in our development of the frigate BDCS network and look forward to work with its professional engineering team to build the upgrade for the Navy," says Peter Dawson, president of L-3 MAPPS.
