UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J., 30 July 2009. Pentek Inc. is introducing the CompactPCI 7800 series of I/O boards built on a half-length x8 PCI Express (PCIe) 2.0 carrier board, which hosts a PMC/XMC module for applications like software defined radio, data acquisition, and beamforming.

The circuit board enables designers to use PCI Express, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), and high-speed interfaces in low-cost PCs and blade servers.

The 7800 carrier board has several high-speed gigabit serial connectors for inter-board communication. Using protocols such as Xilinx Aurora and Serial Rapid I/O, these interconnections support communication between 7800 Series boards independent of the backplane.

The board also has built-in fan for forced-air cooling, and a 4-pin standard disk drive power connector, which accepts power directly from the PC power supply to augment PCIe slot power.

The family of 7800 products come with the GateFlow FPGA design kits and ReadyFlow board support software libraries, and supports Linux and Windows operating system environments. For more information contact Pentek online at www.pentek.com.
