HOUSTON, 10 April 2006. Officials of VMETRO in Houston are offering an application programming interface (API) for the Vanguard Analyzer family of software audit tools from Vanguard Integrity Professionals Inc. in Las Vegas.
VMETRO's API for the Vanguard Analyzer is for PCIe, PCI/PCI-X, XMC, PMC, cPCI and VME technology. The API helps access and control the features of the analyzers from the customer's application, VMETRO officials say.
Vanguard Analyzer gives an administrator and/or auditor the choice of performing an entire z/OS system audit with one selection, or performing specific individual audit functions. The audit results may be displayed online or printed in a batch report.
This API enables users to blend Vanguard Analyzer functionality into dedicated applications running on a variety of platforms and using virtually any programming language.
Applications include incorporating the Vanguard Analyzer in the system graphic user interface and custom test benches.
VMETRO's Vanguard API engine is implemented as a TCP/IP based server on the Vanguard Analyzer, using ASCII-formatted data for the requests and the responses. The API is available to every client platform that has TCP/IP support.
Two different client interfaces are available for using the Vanguard API.
First, the Raw ASCII interface transmits RPC requests and responses as simple ASCII-coded strings, while the XML-RPC interface transmits the requests and responses as XML formatted messages. Second, the raw ASCII interface uses basic TCP/IP socket client/server communication for the transport, while the XML-RPC interface uses HTTP.
