CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 16 Feb. 2006. GE Fanuc Embedded Systems in Charlottesville, Va., has signed an agreement to purchase the assets of Condor Engineering, a leading provider of avionics networking equipment and software, in Santa Barbara, Calif.

GE Fanuc is acquiring Condor Engineering's test and simulation products, embedded boards, and core technology to meet the data communications needs of commercial and military aircraft manufacturers and suppliers.

The acquisition of Condor will bring expertise in embedded, test, and simulation avionics data communications solutions to the GE Fanuc Embedded Systems product line, GE Fanuc officials say.

"GE Fanuc is pleased to add this complementary product portfolio to our already robust embedded solutions," says Maryrose Sylvester, president and chief executive officer of GE Fanuc Automation. "The innovations Condor Engineering has brought to the burgeoning avionics industry are well-recognized as quality solutions, and we plan to build on that reputation to further serve the industry."

No immediate plans are in the works to change the Condor Engineering name, location, or business emphasis.

Condor Engineering brings a broad and international customer base within both the aerospace and defense industries. The company's product set includes powerful hardware interface solutions for application engineers, extensive high-level API libraries for software developers, GUI monitor and control programs for integrators and test engineers, and core logic for embedded designers.

Condor's avionics data networking technology supports F-16, F/A-18, F-22, C-17, and C-130 military aircraft, as well as Airbus and Boeing commercial jetliners. Test and simulation products include commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) avionics communications solutions including CompactPCI, PCI, PMC, and VME platforms.

"This is a great opportunity for current Condor customers," says Condor President John Gerngross. "This agreement will combine our synergistic product lines to provide more powerful solutions to our customers. Users can expect continued focus on quality with innovative, high-performance data communications solutions that addresses the rigorous requirements of the commercial and military avionics sectors."

The transaction is expected to close in the near future, subject to customary closing conditions.
