BOHEMIA, N.Y., 25 Sept. 2007. North Atlantic Industries (NAI) in Bohemia, N.Y., is offering a five-module, single-slot CompactPCI (cPCI) card that can eliminate the complexity and size constraints of multiple, independent, single-function cards.

The 78CS2 cPCI card can accommodate as many as independent function modules, and can be configured with NAI's D/S converters. The 78CS2 also incorporates a Gigabit Ethernet interface to transfer data to and from the board without using the backplane bus. This Ethernet port allows the board to be used as a stand-alone remote sensor interface, without the need for a separate computer board.

Other modules for the card includes D/LVDT (two channels), S/D (four channels), LVDT/D (four channels), A/D (10 channels), D/A (10 channels), AC synchro reference generator, function generator (four channels), discrete I/O (16 channels), TTL I/O (16 channels), transceiver I/O (11 channels), and RTD (six channels).

The multi-function design of the 78CS2 provides extensive diagnostics and is available in commercial temperature range and severe-environment industrial temperature range. For increased flexibility, each of the functions of the 78CS2 is programmable at the channel level.

The board offers continuous background (BIT) testing on all functions and channels, which is transparent to the user, requires no programming, and does not interfere with the normal operation of the card. The 78CS2 is suited for military and commercial programs, including airborne, shipboard, ground mobile and C3I applications.

The 78CS2 is available with operating temperature ranges of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and 0 C to 70 C. Conduction-cooled versions with wedgelocks are also available. For more information contact NAI online at www.naii.com.
