AT&T Government Solutions was awarded the contract by Defense Information Technology Office (DITCO), which is a part of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a division of the Department of Defense (DoD). The JHITS contract has an estimate contract value of $250 million.

The Thales SONET Datacryptor and lower speed Datacryptors will be deployed to secure the JHITS network. The SONET Datacryptors have minimal latency and will allow the network to operate at maximum efficiency while encrypting mission critical applications.

The Datacryptor range of hardware encryptors provides FIPS 140-2 certified security at layer 2 and layer 3 applications, including leased line links, SONET, IP networks, and Gigabit Ethernet links. With AES (128, 192, 256-bit) or 3DES (168-bit) algorithms built in, the Datacryptor family is designed to meet requirements mandated by the DoD.
