Navy ready to place order to Rockwell Collins for AN/ARC-210 aircraft military radios

Officials of the Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., have announced their intention to issue a delivery order (N00019-16-P2-PMA-209-0106) to Rockwell Collins for components of the AN/ARC-210 integrated airborne radio system to support SPAWAR in San Diego.

Rockwell Collins will provide 12 RT-1747D/ARC receiver transmitters and 12 C-11898A/ARC control, radio sets for SPAWAR. The value of the order has yet to be negotiated.

The RT-1747D/ARC is at the heart of the Rockwell Collins AN/ARC-210 airborne radio. It performs the functions of receiving and transmitting radio signals from aircraft antennas. The C-11898A/ARC radio control unit enables the aircraft crew to manipulate the radio by changing frequencies, volume levels, and other functions.

The AN/ARC-210 is a programmable digital aircraft radio from Rockwell Collins that provides two-way, multi-mode voice and data communications over frequencies from 30 to 512 MHz, covering UHF and VHF bands with AM, FM, and satellite communications capabilities.

The ARC-210 radio also includes embedded anti-jam waveforms, including Have Quick and SINCGARS, and other data link and secure communications features for battlefield interoperability and transfer of data, voice, and imagery. The radios communicate with other onboard avionics over a MIL-STD-1553 data bus.

The ARC-210 aircraft radio provides VHF close air support radio communications on 30-88 MHz frequencies; navigation on 108-118 MHz; air traffic control on 118-137 MHz; land mobile communications on 137-156 MHz; and maritime communications on 156-174 MHz.

The radios also provide aircraft with UHF military and homeland defense communications on 225-512 MHz frequencies; and public-safety communications on 806-824, 851-869, 869-902, and 935-941 frequencies.

The ARC-210 also provides embedded, programmable information security per the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) Cryptographic Modernization Initiative.

The Navy is awarding this order to Rockwell Collins sole-source because the only company is the only responsible supplier of the ARC-210 radio. Rockwell Collins is the original equipment manufacturer of the ARC-210.
