Naval aviation leaders to brief industry on future contracting opportunities Feb. 23

U.S. Navy aviation experts will brief defense contractors on future contract opportunities over the next three years related to naval air warfare at an industry day 23 Feb. 2011 at the Holiday Inn Solomons-Conference Center & Marina, 155 Holiday Drive, in Solomons, Md. Navy leaders are interested in avionics; systems engineering; propulsion and power; human systems engineering; warfare analysis and integration; and research and intelligence.

U.S. Navy aviation experts will brief defense contractors on future contract opportunities over the next three years related to naval air warfare at an industry day 23 Feb. 2011 at the Holiday Inn Solomons-Conference Center & Marina, 155 Holiday Drive, in Solomons, Md.The industry day briefings, which run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., concern military contract solicitations expected through fall 2013 from the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md.Highlights of the NAWCAD industry day briefings include presentations on NAWCAD contracting opportunities expected in federal fiscal years 2011, 2012, and 2013. The federal fiscal year runs from 1 Oct. to 30 Sept. Areas of future contracting opportunities include avionics; systems engineering; propulsion and power; human systems engineering; warfare analysis and integration; research and intelligence; integrated systems evaluation, experimentation and test; threat and target systems; and integrated battlespace simulation and test.

The conference goal is to enhance NAWCAD-industry collaboration in support of the naval aviation warfighter by presenting industry with potential contracting opportunities, Navy officials say. The industry day agenda will include introductory presentations by Vice Adm. David Architzel, commanding officer of U.S. Naval Air Systems Command; Rear Adm. R. L. Mahr, the NAWCAD commanding officer; and Gary Kessler, executive director of NAWCAD.

The conference is open to all industry representatives whose companies can provide products and services to NAWCAD. Seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Identification is required at check-in.
